Manager News – January 2019
JP Morgan Fixed Income:
Nick Gartside, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and co-manager on a number of multi-sector fixed income products at JP Morgan, stepped down from the group at the beginning of January 2019 to pursue a new opportunity. Ian Stealey will take over Gartside’s role as CIO and co-manager of the JP Morgan Global Strategic Bond, Unconstrained Bond and Global Bond Opportunities funds, with support from Robert Michele.
Neptune plans to merge its Quarterly Income fund into the Neptune Income fund on the 1st April 2019, after the latter fund moved to paying quarterly distributions on the back of investor demands, making the smaller Quarterly Income fund obsolete.
M&G Global Themes:
M&G Investments has announced Jamie Horvat departed from the Global Themes fund. Alex Araujo will take over with immediate effect with no change to the investment objective or approach. Stuart Rhodes, manager of the M&G Global Dividend fund, will join lead manager Araujo as deputy manager. The two managers currently run the Global Dividend fund where Araujo is deputy manager, with Araujo continuing to manage the M&G Global Listed Infrastructure fund.
Schroders US SMID Cap:
Jenny Jones, Head of the US Small and SMID Cap Equities team, will retire from Schroders on the 31st March 2019, however she will stay at the group in an advisory capacity for several months to ensure an orderly transition. Bob Kaynor, co-portfolio manager of the US Smaller Companies and US Mid cap funds, will take over full responsibility for the portfolio.
T Rowe US Smaller Companies
T Rowe Price’s US Smaller Companies manager Ryan Burgess is set to depart the fund group on 31st March 2019 with Curt Organt taking over as lead manager on the portfolio. Organt has been a member of the firm’s small and mid-cap strategies for over 20 years.
Edouard Carmignac, founder of Carmignac, has stepped down from his portfolio manager role on the group’s flagship Patrimoine fund. Carmignac will be passing his responsiblities to David Older, Head of Equities, and Rose Ouahba, Head of Fixed Income. Ouahba had been co-manager of the fund alongside Carmignac since 2007, while Older was appointed as a co-manager in September 2018. Carmignac is to remain as the group’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and member of its strategic investment committee.
