Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust:
Carlos Hardenberg, lead portfolio manager, of the Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust is set to depart on the 31st March 2018, with Chetan Sehgal taking over. Sehgal has worked at Franklin Templeton since 1995 and has been involved with emerging markets during this time, as well as working closely for two years with Hardenberg and former chairman Mark Mobius on this product.
Columbia Threadneedle Property:
Don Jordison, Managing Director of Threadneedle Property Investments, is set to retire from the industry and will leave Columbia Threadneedle Investments on the 1st May 2018. The group’s UK Property fund will be taken over by existing co-manager Garry Frewin and will maintain the same investment process.
River & Mercantile Asset Management:
Philip Rodrigs has left River & Mercantile after an investigation into his professional conduct. Rodrigs was manager of the River & Mercantile UK Equity Smaller Companies and UK Dynamic Equity funds, as well as the UK Micro Cap investment trust. Dan Hanbury will take over UK Equity Smaller Companies, William Lough will take over UK Dynamic Equity and the UK Micro Cap investment trust will be managed by George Ensor.
Lead manager Mike Prentis is stepping down from BlackRock’s Throgmorton investment trust and handing responsibility for the portfolio to co-manager Dan Whitestone, as the trust looks to raise its profile and distinguish itself from the BlackRock Smaller Companies trust; which Prentis also runs. Going forward the Throgmorton trust will have one single portfolio managed by Whitestone, who also heads BlackRock’s Smaller Companies team.
JP Morgan Multi Asset:
Talib Sheikh has stepped down from JP Morgan Global Income fund as well as six other mandates that he ran within the group. Michael Schoenhaut and Eric Bernbaum will also continue to manage the SICAV versions of the Global Income and Global Income Conservative funds. In addition, Bernbaum will be added as co-manager on the Multi-Asset Income fund with Schoenhaut. James Elliot and Shrenick Shah will continue to manage both the OEIC and SICAV versions of the Global Macro Opportunities strategy, as well as the Global Macro SICAV. Elliot will also continue to run the OEIC and SICAV versions of the Global Macro Balanced strategy alongside Gareth Witcomb. Meanwhile, Witcomb will continue running the Global Balanced fund and Katy Thorneycroft and Jonathan Cummings will be added as co-managers.
JP Morgan Global Convertibles Income trust:
JP Morgan’s Antony Vallee, who runs their Global Convertibles Income investment trust, is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities. He will be replaced on the by Natalia Bucci, Head of the group’s Convertible Bonds team, assisted by Robin Dunmall and Paul Levene. The trio will also take over the JP Morgan Global Convertibles fund Vallee also ran.
Janus Henderson Cautious Managed:
Chris Burvill, the Director of UK Equity, of Janus Henderson and manager of their Cautious Managed fund, is to take an extended period of leave for medical reasons. The fund will be taken over by existing co-manager Stephen Payne, who will be supported by John Pattullo and Jenna Barnard. Payne focuses on UK equities while Pattullo and Barnard both have backgrounds in fixed income as co-Heads of Strategic Fixed Income at the firm. The investment process and objective of the fund will remain unchanged.
JP Morgan UK Equity team:
Head of UK funds, Jasper Berens, is to leave JP Morgan to pursue other opportunities. Massimo Greco, Head of EMEA funds, will assume control with immediate effect, although Berens will remain at the firm for an interim period to oversee the transition.
