Manager News – April 2018

Artemis Alpha Trust:

Adrian Paterson, co-manager of the Artemis Alpha Trust will retire from fund management at the end of the year.   This coincides with a number of changes taking place at the trust including a new charging structure and amending the investment objective.

 

Standard Life UK Equity:

Karen McKellar has retired from running the Standard Life UK Equity High Income fund.  Iain Pyle, who managed the UK Equity Growth fund, will move over to the UK Equity High Income portfolio with immediate effect.  As a result Andrew Millington, Head of UK Equities, will run the group’s UK Equity Growth fund after Pyle’s switch.  Standard Life have also announced the departure of Henry Flockhart, who ran the firm’s UK Equity High Alpha fund, with Frederik Nassauer taking over.

 

Old Mutual Global Investors Asian Equity:

Old Mutual Global Investors (OMGI) is to hand the management of its two Asian equity funds to the group’s Global Equities Team, which is headed by Ian Heslop; with Josh Crabb and his team departing.  The new team is scheduled to take on management of the funds on the 18th May.

The change follows a fund range review, during which OMGI concluded that investors in the Old Mutual Pacific Equity and the Asian Equity Income fund will benefit from the management of Heslop’s team.

 

AXA Framlington Global Opportunities:

AXA Investment Managers is overhauling and renaming the AXA Framlington Global Opportunities fund with co-manager, Amanda O’Toole, being appointed to work alongside current manager and Head of Global Equities, Mark Hargraves.  As part of the restructuring the fund will been renamed the AXA Framlington Global Thematics fund from 14th May to better reflect the way the fund is managed.

 

AXA Framlington UK Select Opportunities:

AXA Investment Management’s Nigel Thomas is to retire in March 2019 with Chris St John assuming control of the firm’s UK Select Opportunities fund later this year.  St John will continue to manage the AXA Framlington UK Mid Cap fund and will remain as lead manager on the AXA WF Framlington UK Fund.  He will take over as lead manager on the UK Select Opportunities fund from 31st December 2018.

 

Man GLG Stategic Bond:

Man GLG’s Strategic Bond and Corporate Bond fund co-manager Jon Mawby has resigned from the firm and been placed on gardening leave with immediate effect.  Co-manager Andy Li will now take sole responsibility for the management of both funds and will report to Chief Investment Office (CIO) of Credit Simon Finch.
