Manager News – April 2017
Allianz Fixed Income:
Kacper Brzezniak has been promoted to co-manager of the Allianz Gilt Yield and Allianz Strategic Bond funds, where he will work alongside the current fund manager Mike Riddell. Brzezniak joined Allianz’s debt specialist team as a portfolio manager in July 2016. Prior to joining the group, Brzezniak was an intern at BlueCrest Capital Management.
Invesco Perpetual Asian:
Invesco Perpetual has announced that William Lam will become the sole manager of the group’s Asian fund on 1st May, with former co-manager Stuart Parks overseeing the range in his role as Head of Asian Equities. Lam has managed pan-Asian portfolios at Invesco Perpetual since 2009 and was made co-manager of the Asian fund in 2015, alongside Parks.
Polar Capital UK Value Opportunities:
George Godber has joined Georgina Hamilton at Polar Capital to co-manage the UK Value Opportunities fund. Godber and Hamilton previously worked together on the Miton UK Value Opportunities fund before handing in their notice in April 2016. Hamilton joined Polar Capital in October 2016 and launched the UK Value Opportunities fund in January 2017. Godber however, had a longer notice period with Miton and joined Polar Capital in April 2017.
Schroders ISF Asian Opportunities:
Schroders’ Robin Parbook is to pass sole responsibility for the group’s $4 billion ISF Asian Opportunities fund to Toby Hudson on the 1st January 2018. From May 2017 Hudson will be the co-manager alongside Parbrook on the portfolio to ensure an orderly transition period.
Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets:
Mark Mobius is to step down from running the offshore Franklin Templeton Emerging Markets fund with Carlos Hardenberg and Chetan Sehgal taking up the roles of co-managers. Mobius will remain as executive chairman of the group and will continue to manage onshore Templeton Global Emerging Markets fund. Hardenberg is currently the group’s Director of Frontier Markets Strategy while Sehgal serves as its Director of Global Emerging Markets/Small Cap Strategies.
Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies PLC:
Martin Lau, of First State, is to step back from management duties of the Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies investment trust as part of a broader team reshuffle. Vinay Agarwal will take over as lead manager, with Scott McNab remaining the deputy manager.
Jupiter US Equity:
Jupiter Asset management will close the Jupiter JGF North American Equities on the 28th April fund due to the lack of assets under management; currently just €5 million. This closure will have no impact on the unit trust version of the fund, which is also managed by Radcliffe.
