Manager Changes - April 2010 Principal Emerging Markets Debt:
Principal Global Investors has appointed Jeffrey Sacks from Barclays Wealth, where he was a director and managed emerging markets debt portfolios, to be an emerging markets debt portfolio manager. Sack’s appointment is part of the group’s continued expansion of its fixed income capabilities and presence.
Martin Currie Emerging Markets:
Martin Currie has acquired Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP)’s Head of Global Emerging Markets equities Kim Catechis. Catechis will join Martin Currie’s Global Emerging Markets team by the end of the year, and this appointment is part of the group’s expansion of its investment propositions. Catechis will also be joined by Alistair Reynolds, who is the current Head of Global Emerging Markets Smaller Companies at SWIP and is a specialist in Central and Eastern European mandates. At SWIP, Catechis and Reynolds will be replaced by Jeff Casson and Andrew Ness, although the group is actively looking to recruit more managers.
Soros UK Equity:
Soros Fund Management has hired Neil Pegrum from Cazenove, where he was the manager of the Cazenove UK Dynamic fund. Paul Marriage and Julie Dean will take over Pegrum’s responsibilities at Cazenove.
Invesco Perpetual:
Bob Yerbury has stepped down as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Invesco Perpetual and he will be replaced by Nick Mustoe. Yerbury will continue to work with the group in his role as Senior Managing Director. Mustoe, the former CIO of Pictet Asset Management, will take up his position in June 2010.
