Manager Changes - February 2010 Jupiter:
John Chatfield-Roberts has taken over from Edward Bonham Carter as Jupiter Asset Management’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO). Chatfield-Roberts will be responsible for developing and leading the group’s investment managers, and he remains as Head of the Merlin fund range. Bonham Carter will retain his position as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Jupiter.
Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust:
Tom Slater has been appointed as the deputy manager on the Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust by Baillie Gifford. James Anderson, the group’s CIO, will continue to be the lead manager of this trust.
Threadneedle UK Equity:
Threadneedle has appointed Chris Kinder from RWC to join its British Equity High Alpha Team. Kinder will work alongside Mark Westwood on the Threadneedle UK Crescendo fund and the High Alpha long-only fund range. At RWC, Kinder worked on long-only and long/short equity mandates, and prior to RWC he worked as a UK small and mid-cap analyst at Govett Investments.
Gartmore Europe:
Steven Jones, Head of European Equity, has left Gartmore, to become the Chief Investment Office at Principal Investment Management. At Gartmore, Jones was the manger of the group’s European Focus fund. John Bennett, manager of the European Select Opportunities fund, has been chosen as Jones’ successor on the European Focus fund, although no manager wants Jones’ title of Head of European Equities.
Invesco Perpetual Fixed Interest:
Co-heads of Fixed Interest at Invesco Perpetual, Paul Causer and Paul Read, are stepping back from five mandates they currently manage. Michael Matthews and Stuart Edwards will take over responsibility for the Invesco Perpetual Global Bond and Invesco Global Bond funds. Edwards will be the sole manager on the Money and Sterling Reserve funds. Matthews will be the lead manager on the Fixed Interest Pension fund. Edwards has been at Invesco Perpetual since January 2006 when he joined as a macro-economic strategist, and has since been responsible for the management of the team’s government bond and foreign exchange-based funds. Matthews has been running the Invesco Sterling Bond fund since 2008. Causer and Read retain the flagship Corporate Bond fund along with the Monthly Income Plus fund.
