Manager Changes - January 2010 Rathbone:
Mike Webb has replaced Peter Pearson as Chief Executive of Rathbone, following Pearson’s retirement. Webb, the former Chief Executive Officer at Invesco Perpetual, joins from Hermes Fund Managers where he was the Head of Business Development.
Aberdeen Asia:
Peter Hames is to leave Aberdeen Asset Management in the autumn of 2010 and is planning a return to Europe. Hames, who is the Head of Asian Equities and responsible for the day-to-day management of all regional portfolios, helped to create Aberdeen Asia Singapore alongside veteran manager Hugh Young back in 1992.
AXA Framlington UK Equities:
AXA Framlington have strengthened their UK Equities team by appointing Dan Harlow from Montanaro Asset Management. At Montanaro, Harlow was running their UK Smaller Companies Investment Trust and was the Head of Fund Management. Harlow will work alongside Chris St. John on the UK Small Cap desk.
Baring Asian Equity:
Baring has appointed Colin Ng as Head of Asian Equity from MFC Global Investment Management. Ng will be responsible for the range of regional Asian and single country funds, excluding China. At MFC Ng was Head of the Asia Pacific Equities team and prior to this, he was head of Asia ex-Japan at UOB Asset Management, and the manager of their Asia ex-Japan and Greater China mandates.
Skandia US Large Cap Growth:
Fifth Third Asset Management (FTAM) will manage the Skandia US Large Cap Growth fund on their behalf. The mandate was formerly managed by Andrew Shilling of Wellington Management. FTAM is based in Cincinnati and is a large-cap boutique. Wellington Management will remain manager of the Skandia Global Bond and Technology funds.
Baillie Gifford European:
The Head of European Equities at Baillie Gifford, Peter Hollis, is to step down from his role in 2011. Hollis currently manages the group’s European fund with Angus Franklin and Thomas Coutts, but a decision is yet to be made as to whether Hollis will continue to co-manage this fund.
Aegon European Equity:
Pauline McPherson has left Standard Life, where she was director of European Equities, to re-join Aegon Asset Management, as a member of their European Equities team. At Standard Life, McPherson was running their European Trust, and before joining Standard Life, she was a senior portfolio manager on Aegon’s Latin American team.
GLG Multi-Manager:
Paul Harvey is stepping down as the Chief Executive Officer of Multi-Manager arm at GLG. Harvey is also the manager of the GLG MMI Enhanced and MMI Diversified funds and he will be replaced by Neil Hobson and Jonathan Howard as joint heads of the business.
