Manager Changes - November 2009 Martin Currie Global Equities:
Martin Currie has employed Christine Montgomery from Edinburgh Partners and Neil Robson from Pioneer Investments. Montgomery was a Global Equities fund manager at Franklin Templeton before moving to Edinburgh as an investment partner. Robson was a Global Equities fund manager at Baring Asset Management prior to becoming Head of Global Equities at Pioneer.
SWIP Fixed Income:
Andrew Tunks, former Head of Fixed Income at Old Mutual, has joined SWIP as the interim Director of Fixed Income. In the newly created position, Tunks will oversee the transfer of fixed income funds and help shape the strategic direction and development of SWIP’s fixed income capability. At Old Mutual Tunks managed their Dynamic Bond with mixed success. Furthermore, SWIP have appointed James Taylor from Gulf International Bank to join their Global Bond team. At Gulf International, Taylor was the Head of Fixed Income and prior to that he was a member of Morley Fund Management’s Fixed Income team
Jupiter Financials:
Guy De Blonay has been appointed the co-manager of Jupiter’s Financial Opportunities fund, which is managed by Phillip Gibbs. De Blonay, who has a strong track record, joins Jupiter from Henderson New Star where he was the manager of their Global Financials fund.
F&C Fixed Interest:
Rebecca Seabrook has been named as co-manager of the F&C Strategic Bond and F&C Extra Income funds, of which Fatima Luis is the lead manager. Seabrook is the co-Head of UK Credit at F&C and is also the lead manager of their Ethical Bond fund.
Fidelity China:
Veteran manager Anthony Bolton has announced he is to return to fund management with the launch of a new China “A” share class fund in March 2010. This fund will have a size cap on it, although this is yet to be announced. Bolton will move to Hong Kong in early 2010 in anticipation of the launch. Bolton has an excellent reputation and track record having managed the Fidelity Special Situations fund since its launch in 1979, before stepping down at the end of 2007. Since then Bolton has been training fund managers and acting in a supervisory role within the firm, but has not managed money since 2007.
