Manager Changes - October 2009 Threadneedle American:
Threadneedle has appointed Kris Haber from Lazard to lead the group’s American desk. Haber will take on the role as Global Head of Hedge Funds and Head of North America next month, where he will be responsible for developing Threadneedle’s presence in these market areas.
Odey Global Equities:
Simon Todd and Michael Nickson have been hired by Odey Asset Management from MFS International to run the group’s global equity strategies. Odey are also launching a new fund, the Odey Global Allegra mandate, which Todd and Nickson will manage.
Aegon European Equity:
Following a review of its European equity capabilities, Aegon have announced four members of the European Equity team, Alistair Duffy, Simon Holman, Mark Love and Duncan MacKay, will leave the group. The group is preparing to integrate its European business in Britain and the Netherlands.
Investec American:
Bill Fries of Thornburg, sub advisors on the Investec American fund, has announced he is to step down from running the fund in January 2010. He will however continue to provide analysis and stock selection ideas, while Ed Maran and Connor Browne, who have been responsible for this fund with Fries, will continue to manage the Thornburg US Domestic Value Portfolios and the Investec American fund.
Gartmore Asian Equities:
Gartmore has appointed Jan de Bruijn from Threadneedle as Head of Asian Equity, as it prepares to develop alternative business. De Bruijn will assume control of the Gartmore Pacific Opportunities and Gartmore SICAV Asia Pacific funds.
Henderson New Star Global Financials:
Guy de Blonay, manager of the Henderson New Star Global Financials fund since December 2001, will join Jupiter Asset Management, the company he worked for before joining New Star. De Blonay will assume an advisory capacity before joining financial fund managers Philip Gibbs and Robert Mumby.
