Manager Changes - February 2009

Allianz Global Sustainability:

 

Sue Chan has left BlackRock, where she focused on American and Global stocks, to join Allianz Global Investors’ Global Equity Team.  Chan will assume responsibility for the Allianz RCM Global Sustainability fund.

 

 

Baillie Gifford Pacific:

 

Baillie Gifford has switched managers on the Pacific fund and Pacific Horizon Investment Trust.  Ben Lloyd, joint manager of the Pacific fund, departed the group leaving Gerald Smith in charge of the fund.  Mike Gush, investment manager on the Emerging Markets Team, has been appointed Lloyd’s successor.  Smith, who was in charge of both the Pacific and Pacific Horizon Investment Trust has stepped back from investment management leaving Gush as sole manager of these funds.

 

 

Aberdeen and Credit Suisse:

 

Aberdeen Asset Management and Credit Suisse Asset Management have proposed a tie-up between the two firms where Aberdeen acquires a portion of Credit Suisse’s business in exchange for Credit Suisse owning part of Aberdeen.  Included in this transaction are a number of Credit Suisse’s unit trust funds, including Credit Suisse’s flagship Income fund.  Paul Griffiths, Head of Fixed Income at Credit Suisse, has been selected to take full-time responsibility for Aberdeen’s fixed income business once the acquisition has completed.  Gary Bartlett, Global Head of Fixed Income at Aberdeen, has left his post to make way for Griffiths and Anne Richards has taken over from Bartlett until this tie-up has completed.

 

 

Premier European Growth:

 

Rupert Morrell has stepped down as manager of the Premier European Growth fund and plans to retire from the investment industry.  Mike Jennings, manager of the Premier Global DSR fund will take over from Morrell on 1st March 2009.  Jennings joined Premier from Morley Asset Management in March 2008 where he was Head of Global Equity.

 

 

Rensburg Corporate Bond:

 

John Anderson, manager of the Rensburg Corporate Bond Trust fund has left Rensburg in favour of Gartmore, where he will replace Simon Surtees as Head of Credit.  Anderson will also take over responsibility for the Gartmore Corporate Bond, Institutional Corporate Bond, High Yield Corporate Bond and SICAV Sterling Corporate Bond funds.  Currently Rensburg do not have a replacement for Anderson.

 

 

Newton Japan:

 

Neiloy Ghosh has been removed as manager of the Newton Japan fund after a period of poor performance, although discussions are continuing regarding Ghosh’s future at the group.  Ghosh had been running the fund since January 2006 and has been replaced by Ewan Markson-Brown.  Markson-Brown has been with Newton since 2006 as a member of the Asia Pacific Team.
