Manager Changes - November 2008 Smith & Williamson European Growth:
Mark Pignatelli, Head of European Equities at Baring has left the group to join Smith & Williamson as manager of their European Growth Trust fund.
New Star UK Growth:
Stephen Whittaker, manager of the New Star UK Growth fund and joint investment officer at New Star, has departed from the company, with responsibility for the fund falling to Trevor Green. Green also manages the Select Opportunities and Managed Distribution funds. Furthermore, mandates on the Skandia Global Best Ideas and UK Best Ideas funds have been passed to Tim Steer, manager of the New Star UK Alpha fund, following Whittaker’s departure.
New Star Fund Mergers:
New Star founder John Duffield has announced a number of changes to the UK desk. The New Star Monthly Income fund is to merge with the Managed Distribution fund, which will be managed by Trevor Green. The Hidden Value fund will be merged into Tim Steer’s UK Alpha fund, with Jamie Allsopp, current manager of the Hidden Value fund, focusing on his Heart of Africa fund. The European desk will also be subject to fund mergers with the European Leaders fund merging into the European Values fund, with Nick Sheridan the lead manager on the portfolio.
