Manager Changes - September 2008

Artemis Multi-Cap Team:

 

Artemis have appointed Ruth Keattch as a fund manager to its multi-cap team, and she will assist in shifting the emphasis of the UK Special Situations fund, managed by Derek Stuart, from large cap bias to mid and small cap bias.

 

 

Close Smaller Companies Team:

 

Sam Barton has departed Unicorn Asset Management in favour of Close Investments where he will join their smaller companies team.  Barton will work with existing managers Deryck Noble-Nesbitt and Stephen Wood, who are responsible for the Close Inheritance Tax Service, Special Situations fund, Beacon Investment Fund, as well as a number of AIM and smaller company mandates for both retail and institutional clients.  At Unicorn, Barton managed smaller company funds for six years, including the Unicorn UK Smaller Companies fund since June 2007.

 

 

Legg Mason Batterymarch Emerging Markets:

 

Legg Mason Batterymarch are losing Curtis Butler on their Emerging Markets team at the end of the month.  Butler, with Ray Prasad, currently manages the Legg Mason Batterymarch Pacific Equity fund, Emerging Markets Equity fund and the Legg Mason Asia Pacific fund.  Butler will be departing for another New York based firm, where he will become the CIO of their Emerging Markets Equity team.  David Lazenby and Ray Prasad will take over Butler’s responsibilities.

 

 

New Star Smaller Companies:

 

Patrick Evershed has left New Star Asset Management with immediate effect.  Evershed has over 40 years investment experience and was responsible for the Select Opportunities fund.  Trevor Green, manager of the Managed Distribution fund, has been lined up to be Evershed’s successor.
