Manager Changes - July 2008

Threadneedle UK Equity Team:

Threadneedle have suffered a double blow as Paul Findlay and Steve Hewitt resigned from the UK Equity Team.  Findlay was the Head of the UK High Alpha and the manager of UK Crescendo Hedge fund whilst Hewitt managed the Pensions UK High Alpha and UK Accelerando funds.  Mark Westwood, manager of the UK Select fund, has been appointed Findlay’s successor on the UK Crescendo Hedge fund after a two month transition period is completed.  Leigh Harrison, Head of UK Equities, will temporarily fill the role of Head of UK High Alpha and manager of the UK Accelerando fund until a permanent replacement can be found.

New Star Structured Products:

Ravi Anand, the Head of Structured Products at New Star has resigned from the company.  Donald Pepper, who will be arriving at the group in September, will assume the new post of Head of Alternative Investments.  Pepper is joining from Merrill Lynch International where he was the Head of Prime Brokerage sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Premier Eastern Enterprise:

Premier has changed the investment mandate and name of the Eastern Enterprises fund to reflect a change in management following the retirement of Richard Muckhart.  Muckhart had been in charge since September 2005 and he will be replaced by Fen Sung, who has been Muckhart’s deputy since 2005.  The fund has been renamed as the China Enterprise, and will narrow its focus from investing across the Asia Pacific region to that of just Greater China.

New Star Equity Income:

Steven Whittaker is to step down as manager of the New Star Equity Income fund and will focus solely on the UK Growth fund.  Charles Deptford, who joined from Baring having managed their Equity Income fund, will take over responsibility for the Equity Income fund.  Whittaker had been lead manager since November 2006 when he took over from Tim Bray.  Deptford will become the fifth manager to run the New Star fund since 2001.
