Manager Changes - February 2008
First State Emerging Markets:
Angus Tulloch has stepped down as lead manager of First State’s two emerging market portfolios, the Global Emerging Markets and Global Emerging Market Leaders. Jonathan Asante will take control. Asante held positions at AXA Framlington as manager of the Emerging Markets fund (1st January 2000 to 30th September 2004), and as Chief Investment Officer. Tulloch will remain co-manager of these funds.
Threadneedle Monthly Extra Income:
Ketish Pothalingham has taken over control of the bond portion of Threadneedle’s Monthly Extra Income fund following the promotion of Andrew Crawford. Crawford has been appointed as Threadneedle’s Fixed Income Business Development Director. Pothalingham will work alongside Chris White who has been managing the equity portion of the fund since July 2003.
Franklin Templeton Europe:
Andrew MacKirdy has left from Franklin Templeton where he was manager of their Europe fund and the Global SICAV fund. MacKirdy is currently on gardening leave before pursuing another opportunity within the industry. The Europe fund has been passed to Uwe Zoellner, who currently runs a number of institutional funds; and the Global SICAV fund has been passed to Martin Cobb, manager of their UK Equity fund and several global equity portfolios.
Lazard Continental European Equity:
Aaron Barnfather will assume responsibility for Lazard’s Continental European equity strategy, taking over from Gabriella Boyle. This position includes management of the Lazard European Alpha and the Lazard European Equity funds. Barnfather was the Director of European equities at Newton before joining Lazard in February 2008. Boyle will now focus her efforts on the firm’s global and international strategies but will continue to be involved with the European equity team.
AXA Framlington UK Smaller Companies:
Roger Whiteoak has left AXA Framlington in a sudden departure. Whiteoak was the manager of the AXA Framlington UK Smaller Companies and Throgmorton Investment Trust. Chris St. John has been appointed Whiteoak’s successor and has been working closely on this fund for the past few years.
