Manager Changes - September 2007 Threadneedle Latin America:
Deputy Manager Katy Dobson is to take lead responsibility of the Threadneedle Latin America fund as Jules Mort steps down. Dobson will head the fund but Mort will remain a deputy and will still have an input on the portfolio. Dobson has been with the group for just over a year having moved from Pictet Asset Management and her investment career started in 1999 at DataStream.
AXA Framlington Gilt:
Philip Chow has joined AXA Framlington to take over the Gilt fund. Head of UK fixed income Denis Gould has run the fund since March 2007 but will now step down from manager duties. Chow joins from F&C where he was a director in the fixed income team. He has also worked at WestLB Asset Management and Threadneedle. The Gilt fund has seen six managers come and go since 2000 including Chris Murphy, Laurent Hirsh, Richard Peirson, Gareth Isaac, Neil Sutherland and Denis Gould.
Threadneedle UK Smaller Companies:
Threadneedle's Dan Vaughan has taken over as chief of the UK Smaller Companies fund after the departure of Bill Barker to Pictet Asset Management. Previously deputy to Barker, Vaughan will continue to run the firm's small-cap life and pensions mandates, as well as heading UK smaller companies. The promotion means Jonathan Barber, Threadneedle's UK Monthly Income fund manager, will assume the UK smaller companies deputy position.
Unicorn Smaller Companies:
Unicorn Asset Management has appointed Miles Nolan as a fund manager. Nolan will work across Unicorn's VCT and smaller companies fund ranges from 1 October. He joins from private client broker and fund management group MD Barnard where he worked as an analyst in the UK equity and VCT teams.
SWIP US Smaller Companies:
Scottish Widows Investment Partnership (SWIP) has appointed Nick Ford and Simon Moss as US equity specialists in its global developed markets team. Ford and Moss will work on US equity funds with Ian Tabberer. Ford will manage the SWIP US Smaller Companies fund. Ford was a director at F&C Asset Management where he was co-fund manager of the US Smaller Companies fund. He has also worked at Gartmore where he co-managed the US Smaller Companies Fund for seven years. Moss joins from the Legal & General US equity team, before which he spent eight years at Gartmore managing US equity funds for retail and institutional clients.
